The Squirrel Nut Zippers video reminds me of that episode of Torchwood where the old film footage comes to life.

Yeah that's a fan-animated one.

It's not really a piece of music, per se, but you know what I love listening to right now?

Okay, you know in Bioshock Infinite when you throw down a Shock Jockey crystal and it sits there sparking and crackling? I could just listen to that on loop.

Brb, getting my dork card stamped.

If Jonny and Dewmann ever star in a buddy cop movie, this would be their theme music.

Do you like Huey Lewis and The News?

Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '87, Huey released this, Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.

Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.

OK I'M BACK GUYS

I SAW A LOT OF BANDS, THESE ARE THE BEST ONES

MONDAY

Iron Maiden meets power metal, I caught two guitar picks from these guys

Hair metal, yess! Only the singer dressed the part though.

These guys played the Star Wars theme at the end of their set. Instant awesome.

TUESDAY

Side project of at least the singer from Alestorm. He just plays keyboard here.

I daresay these guys are my favourite new discovery of the whole festival.

Singer claimed to have food poisoning, threw up in a bin while on stage at least twice and did one song sitting down. Still awesome because they're goddamn Alestorm.

WEDNESDAY

Their name is Space Unicorn on Fire. Space unicorn. On fire.
How could I not go and see them?

These guys played in the early afternoon when it was too hot to do anything. Good thing sitting around doing nothing goes very well with their music.

Same thing goes for these guys. They played main stage where the nearest shade was about 100m away. Melting in the sun in the front row was totally worth it.

Another one of the bands that had me screaming along with every song. I like how their new material focusses more on cleaner vocals

SONATAAAAA - Me and a friend of mine on our way to the main stage.

THURSDAY

There weren't any especially impressive bands on thursday, only the day's headliner managed to keep my interest.

FRIDAY

Some classic heavy metal. Can't go wrong there.

This man is a trained opera singer. Epic. As. Hell.
I was surprised to have any voice left after this show.

I also had a bottle of this

It was glorious.
